Jack Gates is a guitarist, composer and teacher.

As a creative musician, Jack Gates has developed a unique guitar style embracing flamenco, samba, jazz, classical, raga and blues music.

Jack Gates grew up in Northern California in the Berkeley area.  When he was young his parents introduced him to classical guitar music. After studying some flamenco and folk guitar, at age 16, jazz guitar lessons opened new doors of perception.

Performing at festivals, nightclubs in San Francisco and the Bay Area with some of the finest musicians from Brazil, Latin America and the U.S., Jack developed his colorful and expressive guitar sound.  His ensemble and solo recordings feature original compositions, many with vocalist Sharyl Gates.
